What is a Hot Swappable Power Supply?

A hot swappable power supply does not require interaction with your system before a power supply is removed or replaced into your system. If one of the power supplies is not functioning, you can remove the defective power supply with no interruption on your system's operations.

Why use a Hot Swappable Power Supply?

Hot Swappable Power Supplies are used whenever it is desirable to have redundancy and to make it easy to replace a failed power supply.

It may simply be for convenience, to avoid the delay and nuisance of shutting down and then restarting complex equipment, or because it is essential that the equipment be permanently available.

The main benefits of a hot swappable power supply are redundancy, ease of replacing, and the 1U Rack installation.
