The Hammond Manufacturing 1553 Series is a family of ergonomic ABS plastic hand held enclosures designed for comfortable use with portable electronic equipment. These soft-sided enclosures combine a general-purpose ABS body with a soft plastic overmold for an enhanced grip and feature molded-in PCB standoffs and a recessed top cover for membrane displays or keypads. Hammond Manufacturing 1553 Series hand held enclosures provide an ergonomic and versatile housing solution for portable electronics, controllers, test equipment, and other handheld devices. The enclosures are molded from general-purpose ABS plastic with a soft plastic overmold that provides a comfortable grip during handheld use. A recessed top cover accommodates membrane displays or keypads, while molded-in PC board standoffs simplify the installation of electronic assemblies. Most sizes are available with or without a battery compartment, and battery-equipped versions include clips for two AA batteries and one 9V battery, giving designers flexibility when developing portable, battery-powered products. Select models are available in multiple enclosure and overmold color combinations, and most configurations include a removable front panel that can be customized for connectors, switches, displays, or other interfaces. Versions without a battery door are designed to meet IP54, while available accessories include prototype PC boards, belt or pocket clips, IR-transparent end panels, replacement end panels, and battery doors.
