MEAN WELL NCP-3200 Rack System & PMBus Control

The MEAN WELL NCP-3200 is a 3.2kW rack-mount AC/DC power supply designed to provide high power density, flexible system expansion, and intelligent digital control. NCP-3200 modules can be installed in compatible 19-inch DHP rack shelves, with four power modules per shelf and active current sharing supporting up to 10 rack shelves and a maximum of 40 power supplies connected in parallel. The standard DHP-1UT-B rack supports the 24V and 48V NCP-3200 models, while the 380V model requires the DHP-1UT-BHV high-voltage rack.

For applications requiring intelligent control and monitoring, the NCP-3200 supports PMBus Rev. 1.1 at bus speeds up to 100kHz, allowing functions such as information reading, status monitoring, and output trimming. The interface uses dedicated SDA and SCL communication lines, along with address lines for rack-system configuration. This digital interface can simplify the sequencing and supervision of multiple power supplies from a host controller and makes the NCP-3200 platform especially useful in automated test environments where engineers need greater visibility into power supply operation. Additional capabilities include programmable output voltage and current, remote ON/OFF control, alarm signals, auxiliary power, and built-in ORing for parallel and redundant power architectures.
