About MEAN WELL DIN Rail Power Supplies with ORing FET:

MEAN WELL DIN Rail Power Supplies with integrated ORing FET technology combine efficient AC/DC power conversion with built-in output isolation to support reliable, redundant DC power systems. ORing FET circuitry uses MOSFET-based isolation to help prevent reverse current flow between connected power supplies, protecting operational units from backfeeding into a failed or disconnected supply. When two appropriately sized power supplies are configured for 1+1 redundancy, the remaining operational supply can continue powering the connected load if the other supply fails, provided each unit has sufficient capacity to support the full load. This integrated approach can eliminate the need for a separate external redundancy module in compatible configurations, reducing component count, wiring complexity, and installation space within industrial control cabinets. Compared with conventional diode-based ORing solutions, MOSFET technology can reduce forward voltage drop and associated power losses, helping improve overall system efficiency and thermal performance. These power supplies are particularly well suited for factory automation, industrial control systems, process monitoring, telecommunications infrastructure, and other applications where power continuity and equipment availability are essential. By integrating ORing FET functionality directly into compatible DIN rail power supplies, MEAN WELL provides a practical solution for building streamlined, reliable DC power architectures with reduced system complexity.
